LED Exit sign - Perfect for your next rave!

Some friends and I found this old exit sign (among other things) at the MIT loading dock. I figured it could use an RGB update!

My first order of business was to lay out the LEDs. I used individually addressable ones based on the WS2812 shift registers.

Next, a fresh coat of paint to hide the yellowed plastic:

Then a little bit of programming in Arduino (with an ATTINY85 mcu), and we have animation!
